Celebrate our Girls

Every time we bring our cards to a new store, people always gush over how nice they are. In a time where most things come from China, they can't believe that they are both designed and made right here in Amman.

When our friends receive our cards and we see that look of joy spread across their faces, we can't help but be proud.

But none of this would be possible without the hard work and dedication of the girls who work for us. These girls work diligently every day to ensure that every card is classy and elegant, but also of the highest quality.

So a big THANK YOU to Hanan, Mariam, Mariam, Nadeen, Nuha, Rania and Rasha! We couldn't have done all of this without you.

Balalino

When I think back to parties I attended as a child, I always picture balloons. Balloons were necessary to decorate any event because they made the place fun; whenever they were around, we knew it was time to play. Balloons always brought giggles and laughter from everyone, young and old.

Balloons exude fun, joy, and happiness like nothing else.

Balalino takes these simple, fun decorations, and turns them into brilliant masterpieces. No matter the occasion, whether small or large, simple or elaborate, Balalino can create whatever you imagine.

Located around 4th Circle in Amman, Balalino is the premier provider of balloons in Jordan. The shop offers truly innovative designs and is committed to making whatever you dream come true.

The next time you want to celebrate a birthday or a new baby, give balloons. These unique innovations are bursting with fun and excitement, and they are certain to add extra enjoyment to your day. Balalino also has two other locations in Oman and in the United Arab Emirates. For more information visit their Facebook page or their website.

Celebrate Jordan

Have you ever wanted to proudly display your home country? Or perhaps you are traveling and you want a souvenir of this beautiful kingdom? Something simple, yet nice.

Well now you can do just that. From The Earth is pleased to offer the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as an olive wood ornament, key chain and magnet! Handmade in Jordan from local olive wood, we feel that this souvenir is both beautiful and unique.

These new pieces are currently available in our showroom and will be available in our stores very shortly. Please check our map to see which stores carry our olive wood ornaments.

We're very excited about these new pieces and we hope that you will join us in celebrating this beautiful land!

Fihmi Abu Edshaysh: The man behind the loom

Two members of our From the Earth team had a wonderful time traveling to Madaba to visit Fihmi Abu Edshaysh—the rug designer recognized for the lovely pieces showcased in our storefront.

Fihmi was eager to show us around his workspace of three large looms, and he allowed us to observe how he hand-weaves his rugs with 100% sheep’s wool. He shared with us how he learned the art of weaving in Egypt and then moved to Madaba to start a business selling rugs. His family lives in Egypt, but Fihmi works diligently in Jordan to earn a living and provide for them. He visits Egypt to see his wife and kids a few times a year during holidays.

Fihmi’s beautiful artwork is inspired by traditional Bedouin designs, which he makes and sells on his own. He originally produced rugs from natural white, beige, and brown wool, but he now experiments with different dyes to produce vibrant and interesting patterns. With years of weaving experience, Fihmi can weave almost any design or picture and also offers his services for custom-designed rugs.

Fihmi Abu Edshaysh's hand-woven rugs made specifically for From the Earth are completely natural, containing no dyes or added colors. Stop by our showroom to take a look!

Back to School!

As the summer comes to an end much faster than most of us would like, we start to think of all of the things involved in starting school. Before we know it, we are running around town buying new clothes and uniforms, running to school to get our books and put them in our lockers, buying school supplies, and the list goes on. Then when we try to catch our breath and relax a little, the first day of school arrives.

I have enjoyed the days of relaxing, sleeping in, and no homework, coupled with picnics in the forest and trips to the Dead Sea. A part of me wishes that summer could last a little longer, but another part of me is ready to start school – I get to see my friends and begin a whole new school year.

So, for all students, welcome back to school, and From the Earth wishes you the best as you start a new school year.
